    The brutal heat of the summer may ruin your appetite and mess with your digestive system. Lack of hydrating and cooling meals that calm the gut and provide you with the vitamins and minerals you need to maintain immunity is the main cause of most summertime diseases. While it’s common to want sweet and frozen delicacies in the summer, it’s best to consume things that really cool you down. In the summer, cooling foods like buttermilk, yoghurt, mint, chia seeds, and fennel seeds may be quite beneficial.

    According to Menon, there are several drinks you may have on an empty stomach in the morning or during the day to enjoy a healthy and disease-free summer.

    DRINKS FOR AN EMPTY STOMACH

    Chia seeds and lemon water

    1 tsp of chia seeds were soaked overnight in 1/4 glass of water. The next morning, add 150 ml of water to the glass of chia seeds and water, then pour the juice of 1 lemon into the mixture. The cooling properties of chia seeds are said to support the Kapha (earth and water components). They’re designed to keep the body hydrated, the bowels moving easily, and the digestive system in good shape.

    Cucumber juice

    Consume cold-pressed cucumber juice with 4–5 mint leaves chopped in, a sprinkle of chat masala or kala namak, and 1 teaspoon of grated fresh mango. Cucumber has a high water content, which keeps the body hydrated while acting as a cooling and being easy on the stomach.

    Water is essential on its own, and in the summer, much more so. A body that was dehydrated while it was sleeping can be rehydrated by drinking two glasses of water first thing in the morning.

    Yoghurt 

    Mix together 12 cups of yoghurt with a very little piece of grated ginger, a sprinkle of raw haldi, and pepper; store in the fridge. Consume this as soon as you wake up. Yoghurt throughout the summer months supplies the essential lactobacilli required to maintain the proper balance of gut microbiota.

    RESTFUL SUMMER BEVERAGES

    • Menon offers more summertime beverages that one may have throughout the day.
    • You may have 200ml of coconut water or watermelon/orange juice that has been freshly squeezed without adding any water, together with 1 tsp of chia seeds, whenever you choose!
    • Yoghurt and cucumber slices make a delicious snack. Try mixing 100 ml of well-prepared 100 ml buttermilk with 100 ml of cucumber juice as well for a unique beverage that is perfect for a hot summer day.
